  Half a Harvey Carries On.
It was hailed as one of the richest contracts in Radio. Add to that the fact that the signer was nearing 80 years old in 2000 - the beginning of the contract - and you have an historic media event.

  Sunday Evening Hand Off
I can remember when having divorced parents put you in the minority. Perhaps you can, too.

  We're Number 14!
The big man stood in the doorway between the kitchen and the dining room. He was quiet, but his smile lit up the room. In Al and Mary Collins' house there were many with big voices, casting large shadows with their visits in the waning 50's and promising 60's.

  Fighting the Good Fight
I am going public with this so it will help me, plain and simple. This week the TV show "The Biggest Loser" will cap another season. I don't know how long it has been on the air, but even one season was more than I thought possible.

Smallest Man in the Big Man Shop
"We hear about the epidemic of obesity in America and it is true. Just look around. But the problem is as individual as smoking. I am the only one who can control my weight. About a month ago Monika said I had to, 'stop gaining weight.'"

  The Day the Dream Died

"Had Martin Luther King lived this would be a very different world. As he is often compared to Lincoln, the two Kennedys and even - careful here - Jesus, a middle-aged or senior philosopher-king changes mostly his mind rather than his society."

  Buying The Line

A friend mentioned that I was following the party line with my last post. That the Obama template was, "you're either with me or racist." Sort of a spin on the "W" mantra that in the war against terrorism you are either with us or with the terrorists.

  Painting in Shades of Gray
Let's start right here:
"While Obama has a mostly favorable image among white Democrats, those with unfavorable views about him are likelier to say equal rights for minorities have gone too far and to oppose interracial dating."

  Joe at 3000

I am not going to profess to have any unique insight into the life and times of the Great Joe Tait, except to say that we shared the same employer for a number of years. He was always a gentleman to me and truly helped many in their respective careers.

  Barack's Minister: Guilt by Association

"It is a little naive of him not to recognize that his pastor's notions - that America is a racist country, that the attacks of September 11, 2001 were some kind of divine retribution and other incendiary opinions based on a glimmer of fact and whole lot of supposition - were not going to reflect on the candidate."
