Residents Lined Up To Shred, Recycle 11/4/2009 1:59:44 AM | Tina Kaufmann, AkronNewsNow.com Summit County residents lined up to safely shred and recycle over 90 tons of documents at The Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority (SASWMA) FREE shredding events that took place throughout this year. advertisement Since paper recycling saves trees, water and landfill space, these shredding events impacted the environmental in a positive way. The 90 tons of shredded documents were recycled, which means 1,530 trees were saved, 630,000 gallons of water was conserved and 270 Cubic yards of landfill space was not filled. Not to mention, according to the EPA's WARM Model, over -345 Metric Tons of C02 emissions where conserved by recycling the 90 tons of documents.
