The City of Munroe Falls, Fairlawn, Macedonia, Green and Norton hosted shredding events on various Saturdays, partnering with SASWMA to offer this service to their residents. "This is a very popular event," stated Yolanda Walker, SASWMA Executive Director. "Over 1,900 residents were happy to have their documents safely shredded and recycled."

Since paper recycling saves trees, water and landfill space, these shredding events impacted the environmental in a positive way. The 90 tons of shredded documents were recycled, which means 1,530 trees were saved, 630,000 gallons of water was conserved and 270 Cubic yards of landfill space was not filled. Not to mention, according to the EPA's WARM Model, over -345 Metric Tons of C02 emissions where conserved by recycling the 90 tons of documents.

The 2010 FREE Shredding Event schedule will be available in early spring.
