AUDIO Young Professionals of Akron 11/19/2008 3:01:50 AM | Tina Kaufmann The organization helps provide a way for professionals to build networks and become engaged in the community, in hopes they will stay in Akron. advertisement There's no age limit, just a lot of networking, which is one goal of the YPA (Young Professionals of Akron). The non-profit organization helps anyone who reaches out to them get in touch with people in the city, to get jobs, or just to find places to hang out and connect with others. Heather Davis, President of YPA, and Tiffany Herbert, V.P. of YPA, say it's something they love to do and have so much fun doing it. YPA gives people the option to be introduced to others in safe and confortable environments, "we're never going to tell anyone you're too old" to join us, "anyone young and growing in their careers is the age limit. If you're looking for us then we're looking for you."
Herbert tells of her favorite success story of a girl from Kansas, "she sent an e-mail saying I'm moving to the area in a few months, do you have any recommendations for getting a job," she said, "so I said get me your resume and I forwarded it to contacts I made through YPA...one of the companies interviewed her and she's working for that company right now." YPA hosts several events, with one coming up in December called Adopt A Family.
